Taneleer Tivan, known as The Collector, is an Elder of the Universe appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He debuted in a post-credits scene of *Thor: The Dark World* (2013).
Obsessed with collecting rare artifacts, creatures, and beings from across the cosmos, he operates out of Knowhere, a celestial head used as a spaceport. He believes in safeguarding these treasures from cosmic threats, although his motivations are often selfish.
In *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014), the Guardians seek to sell him the Orb containing the Power Stone. His attempt to claim the Stone results in the destruction of his museum and collection. He is last seen rummaging through the ruins after the incident.
